How to Create Your Own Wine Country Tours
I love going on wine country tours. Whether it is a St. Helena wine trip, a Bordeaux one, or a Central California wine tour. I have been to numerous wine regions and I will share with you my favorites of each.
The way I put together my tours normally starts online or with books. Books? What are those? Head to the library, get a card and check some out. It's way cheaper than a bookstore.
Then once I get there, I go to the local tourist information office. I have never been disappointed with their imaginations. I like to ask, if you were here for a weekend with your spouse or significant other, what would you do? Or maybe when you're out with friends?
They normally get asked where this is or that is. But if you ask what they would do if they had the time for wine vacations, you get dreams and imagination. It makes it a lot of fun.
And that is all of the research that I do. I might call wineries ahead of time, especially in foreign countries, but nothing more. Need more information, well read on.
I am just starting this set of links to a couple of my favorite places, tours I have taken myself on, wineries to visit while on your self guided wine tours, and places to stay. If it's not blue yet, come back and it will be. I promise to give you insider tips too. I grew up in wine country and my friends still live there. It doesn't get much more inside than that:
-Sonoma -Napa -St. Helena -Anderson Valley -Yountville -Calistoga -Healdsburg -Palos Robles -Morro Bay -Cambria -Ensenada -Bordeaux -Margaux -St. Emilion -Pauillac
As I visit more places, I will write about more of my trips. So, keep coming back and if you have questions, feel free to ask away with our form below. Or let me know if you have created some great wine vacations!
