Then you have had a Sangiovese wine. This is a common grape throughout Italy. My favorite experiences with it have been as a California wine. I have been drinking it from Viansa winery and I love all of their wines. So, why should this one be any different?
This type of red wine normally tastes of cherry (I just stuck my nose in a glass of chianti classico and it wreaked of cherry), strawberry, plum and vanilla to me. It ages well for about 7 years.
It goes great with pasta, and bright foods (vegetables, olives, garlic). Think Italian. It is a fun wine too. Pretty easy to drink in my opinion and even better when it is shared.
Try a Chianti Classico, make sure it is guaranteed with a ribbon seal around the neck. This means the wine is guaranteed and guaranteed not to disappoint.
Here's a video that focuses on this region in Italy. It was fun to make and the wine was great!
