Pinot Blanc, A Full Bodied Wine
On its own, Pinot Blanc wine, is fairly nondescript. It lacks the depth of Chardonnay, but has its full body.
It tastes mostly of apples but undergoes similar aging processes as Chardonnay. The end result is that it may be buttery as well.
It is added many times to grapes like Auxerrois (Malbec) to give it depth and make the white Pinot version of a spicy Alsatian wine. It is a good winter type of white wine, and a good summer wine depending on its blend.
It is better with light foods like poultry and fish. Vegetables are good as well. Good luck with this one. When you find a good one, you will know.
I have had several nondescript versions of this and one good Alsatian version. I think I need some more time with the Italian ones. I am sure there are some great wines hiding there.
