Need To Add A Bit Of Spice? Try A Grenache

Just in case you have forgotten, Spanish wines are my faves. A great grenache description is spicy and full and oh so good to drink. This is a great type of Spanish wine.

It is unusual to find a wine that is a varietal of this, although you may find 100% Garnacha wines every now and then. It is much more likely that you will find it as a blend with Tempranillo in a Crianza, Reserva, or Gran Reserva wines. Crianza is the lowest classification of types of Spanish wine, while Gran Reserva is the highest. Some good examples of this are the Marques de Caceres wines that you can find on many U.S. store shelves.

These wines smell of red berries like strawberry and raspberry. They also have spicy flavors of clove, and herbaceous flavors like lavender. They have a tendency to be gamey and full bodied.

They go well with tapas, of course, and other spicy foods. I love this Grenache wine on a hot summer evening, because it makes me feel like dancing. Or on a cold winter evening, because it makes me feel like summer. This is a wine that stirs the soul.

So, what does this taste like straight out of the bottle? Here's the Two Crazy Red Headz trying a Priorat? As usual, I like it. But does Debra?
