Wine Terms: Caudilie
One caudilie is equal to one second and is a term that I have rarely heard spoken. It is the term used to describe the amount of time it takes for a wine to finish. It is written quite a bit, but amusingly enough, it is normally followed by its definition even in writing.
Most of the time when you see it written it will say, "finishes for 40 caudilies or 40 seconds." Not really a useful term in my opinion but since you may encounter it, now you know what it means.
Examples of wine with long finishes, are well aged Bordeauxs, poorer examples are younger wines and secondary wines. So, try a signature wine from one of the Bordeaux chateaus and one of their secondaries.
